Royal Challengers Bengaluru has formally proposed a significant investment of โน4.5 crore to install AI- enabled camera systems from M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. This move aims to enhance the crowd safety and management within the stadium following a fatal incident that occurred during IPL victory celebration in June 2025.
Royal Challengers Bengalore has proposed the installation of artificial intelligence enabled camera and the M Chinnaswamy Stadium for improving the fan safety and the crowd management. With the formal communication with Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).
The franchise displayed a comprehensive surveillance plan for preventing the crowd related problem and incidents bringing up a confidence in the venue ahead of future cricket events. The proposal comes after the tragic incident cccurs on June 4th during title celebration resulted into the death of 11 people & over 56 people injured.
Following the incident, the stadium was deemed unsafe for the larger authoring by a government appointed commission leading to the suspension of the cricket at the venue. This year Chinnaswamy Stadium has not been hosting any kind of IPL matches, Women’s World Cup, 2026 World Cup. while police also denied permission to host Vijay Hazare Trophy Matches.
Is RCB is reclaiming the status of Chinnaswamy Stadium ?
Despite home venue being moved out for the IPL 2026 the franchise has proposed a technology driven solution to the address safety concern. The franchise has proposed the installation of 300 to 350 AI unable camera across the stadium. Designed to help crowd monitoring. The system will monitor crowd movement ensure discipline queuing, track unauthorized access at entry and exit points and significantly enhance overall fan safety.
The franchise had confirmed it that the entire one time post of approximately 4.5 crore for this project will be viewed by the franchise and falls under its RCB cares programme reflecting a broader commitment to the fan welfare and innovative solutions. The initiative is going to help in reclaim Chinnaswamy status. The technology will help in addressing the deficiency and Mismanagement at the stadium which led to loss of several lives.
