The Ashes 2025-26, became memorable for Australia’s Opener Travis Head. He hit his third century in the ongoing test series on Tuesday. Which happened to be the third day of the 5th and the final test against England at the Sydney cricket ground. Before the starting of day three, Head was on 91 unbeaten and it took him only 18 deliveries to score another hundred in the series. Now he has 12 centuries in the test for Australia. He got to the milestone by scoring a boundary off the bowler England Josh Tongue.
Once the century was completed the Pink Clad, Sydney crowd erupted. He celebrated his hundred with his trademark celebration by placing his helmet on the top of his bat handle and hosting it in the air. This Australian batter now has 7 Hundreds in different Australian venues. Travis Head’s 2025-26 campaign was a memorable one for him, he had scored 600 runs in nine innings at an average of 66.66 with an average of 87.59. He scored in Perth, Adelaide and Sydney, leaving the crowd and even the England team in reverence.
” The way that he can score off the top of the stumps on both sides of the wicket makes your margin very small,” Joe Root had said about Travis Head after the stumps on day 2.
“He got such incredible hand-eye coordination, he’s a very good at putting ballers under pressure at the right time and making it very difficult to build a sustainable period of pressure over the partnership. he always looking to throw punches back in his own way. and he’s got very clear method of how he wants to do and crush it he’s had brilliant series to date,” he added.
Travis started the series with a second inning ton at the Perth stadium helping Australia to gain a lead against England. He scored his second century in the second innings of the Adelaide Test and this made the Australian team win the game comfortably. Even in Sydney the batter was eventually dismissed for 163 of 166 bowls by Jacob Bethel. He also registered the fifth fastest 150 in the history of the ashes after reaching the landmark of just 152 balls. Travis joins Vaughan and Cook in the elite list of Ashes. Above all this Australian batter has three centuries in his name in a single ashes series.
Heads series tally of 600 runs is currently 206 ahead of the next best England draw route 394.
