‘Scary Film’ franchise returns after 26 years

Mumbai: Cult horror-comedy franchise ‘Scary Film’ is about to return with its sixth half, set to be launched in Indian theatres on June 12, ‘Paramount Footage India’ introduced.

The movie reunites the unique core forged – Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris and Regina Corridor – reprising their roles as Shorty, Ray, Cindy and Brenda respectively, 26 years after the unique movie turned a world comedy phenomenon.

Directed by Michael Tiddes, the brand new instalment takes goal on the present wave of horror reboots, remakes, prequels, sequels, origin tales and what the makers describe as ‘each ultimate chapter that completely isn’t ultimate’, a press launch mentioned.

The ensemble forged additionally contains Damon Wayans Jr., Kim Wayans, Gregg Wayans, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, Dave Sheridan, Heidi Gardner, Lochlyn Munro, Olivia Rose Keegan, Ruby Snowber, Savannah Lee Nassif, Sydney Park, Benny Zielke and Cameron Scott Roberts.

The filmmakers have described the mission as a broad-ranging parody that spares no modern horror sub-genre, from elevated horror to ‘legacy sequels’, with the Wayans brothers promising that ‘nothing is sacred’.

The ‘Scary Film’ franchise, created by the Wayans brothers, launched in 2000 as a parody of late Nineties slasher movies, primarily concentrating on ‘Scream’ and ‘I Know What You Did Final Summer time’.

The unique movie was a large industrial success, grossing over USD 278 million worldwide. It was adopted by 5 instalments, with the Wayans brothers departing after the second movie.

‘Scary Film’ three and 4, directed by David Zucker, shifted the parody targets to movies like ‘The Ring’, ‘Indicators’ and ‘Battle of the Worlds’, whereas the fifth instalment arrived in 2013, that includes Ashley Tisdale and Simon Rex.
