Henil Patel the bowler from Gujrat took a fifer against USA in U19 World Cup

The first match of the U19 World Cup 2026 was played between India and the USA. In the opening match of the World Cup, Team India broke the opponent’s back as the USA collapsed for a score of 107 runs.

In the Under-19 World Cup opener, Team India’s bowlers shattered the USA’s batting at the Queens Sports Club ground in Bulawayo on Thursday, January 15.

Under Ayush Mahatre’s leadership, Team India displayed its top-class bowling attack. When the toss was flipped, the Indian captain chose to bowl. As the bowling attack rattled the USA batting lineup, the three-time participants were bundled out for just 107 runs in 35.2 overs. The top scorer for the USA was Nitish Sudhini with 36 off 52 balls. For India, 18-year-old pacer Helin Patel took a fifer with an economy rate of 2.30 in a spell of seven overs. Dipesh Devendran, R.S. Ambrish, Vaibhav Suravanshi, and Kiran Patel complemented Helin’s effort by taking a wicket each. Helin picked up three wickets early, shattering the opening lineup of the team, and then took a couple of lower-order wickets.

Helping Team India bundle out the USA for just 107, the total became the second-lowest in the history of the U19 World Cup. Helin justified his selection with a five-wicket haul in the opening match of the U19 World Cup, leading India’s dominant bowling display and dismantling the USA batting lineup.

Helin Patel is a key player for the Indian team and comes from Gujarat. He was introduced to cricket by his father at an early age. He has been consistently performing well for Gujarat in domestic tournaments. He has emerged as a reliable pacer with the new ball, regularly troubling opposition batters with disciplined new-ball spells and swing, earning wickets in Youth Tests and ODIs.
