Glenn Phillips : Phillips looking comfortable in Indian soil smashes 78 runs in just 40 balls

The New Zealand cricket player Glenn Phillips once again displayed his talent in India with a bold and fearless exhibition in the opening T20I match against India at Indore.
The explosive right-handed batter scored a remarkable 78 runs off just 40 balls, thus attaining a strike rate of 195. He provided the much-needed momentum to New Zealand after a mini crisis in the form of few early wickets. As a matter of fact, Phillips entered this match with the last ODI on his mind where he had scored a century. With his strong form he carried onto the T20 format as well.
Coming in the New Zealand innings after losing important wickets, he kept his composure and then stepped up his game by going after the Indian bowlers. His inning was a blend of power and placement as he kept finding the gaps and clearing the boundary at will. Phillips got his fifty in just 29 balls, thus announcing his aggressive intent. At one time, it seemed like he was going to win the match for his team, as he hit six huge sixes plus four boundaries during his stay.
His clean hitting over midwicket and straight down the ground was quite impressive and even the most experienced bowlers in the Indian side were not able to handle it. The Kiwi all-rounder was looking to get through the rough patch caused by the Indian bowlers in the early part of the innings and at the same time get his team’s score up.
But then his innings that promised so much got interrupted when Axar Patel bowled him out, and Shivam Dube took the catch. Yet it was a matter of Phillips actually causing much harm already and consequently New Zealand with a great total positioned themselves to be a competitive side.
Glenn Phillips has performed steadily against India for which he could be credited with being a reliable middle-order batsman and a match-winner with his growing reputation of taking risks. His quick adaptability and caliber of dominating even quality bowling give him to be an indispensable player for New Zealand especially when the big tournaments coming down the road.
