‘Homebound’ wins large at Critics’ Selection Awards

Mumbai: Neeraj Ghaywan’s ‘Homebound’ emerged as the largest winner on the eighth Critics’ Selection Awards, sweeping 4 main honours, together with ‘Finest Movie’, ‘Finest Director’, ‘Finest Actor’ for Vishal Jethwa and ‘Finest Supporting Actress’ for Shalini Vatsa.

The annual awards, introduced by the Movie Critics Guild in affiliation with ‘WPP Movement Leisure’, honour excellence throughout characteristic movies, net collection, brief movies and documentaries, with voting carried out by 56 movie critics from throughout the nation.

On the internet collection entrance, Vikramaditya Motwane’s crime thriller ‘Black Warrant’ dominated with 4 wins – ‘Finest Net Sequence’, ‘Finest Director’, ‘Finest Supporting Actor’ for Rahul Bhat and ‘Finest Writing’ for Satyanshu Singh and Arkesh Ajay.

Priyanka Bose gained ‘Finest Actress’ within the characteristic movie class for ‘Agra’, whereas Pasupathy claimed ‘Finest Supporting Actor’ for ‘Bison Kaalamaadan’, his second Critics’ Selection win.

Jaideep Ahlawat (‘Paatal Lok’ Season 2) and Monika Panwar (‘Khauf’) took house the ‘Finest Actor’ and ‘Finest Actress’ honours respectively within the net collection class, with Tillotama Shome successful ‘Finest Supporting Actress’ for ‘Paatal Lok’ Season 2.

Writing honours within the ‘Characteristic Movie’ class went to Rohan Parashuram Kanawade for ‘Sabar Bonda (Cactus Pears)’, the Sundance-winning movie that had obtained three nominations.

Cinematography and enhancing awards went to Sunil Borkar (‘Jugnuma’) and Chaman Chakko (‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’), respectively. The FCG Gender Sensitivity Award was introduced to ‘Sthal’.

Briefly movies, filmmaker Apurva Bardapurkar’s ‘Maaybaapache Aashirwaad (Blessings)’ led with three wins – ‘Finest Movie’, ‘Finest Director’ and ‘Finest Writing’. Sunny Hinduja (‘That’s A Wrap’) and Sheeba Chaddha (‘Nighiyaan Chhavan’) gained appearing honours within the class.

Vivek Chaudhary’s ‘I, Poppy’, a ‘Scorching Docs ‘winner, claimed the ‘Finest Documentary’ prize.

Veteran actress Farida Jalal, who was not too long ago seen in Anusha Rizvi’s ‘The Nice Shamsuddin Household’, was conferred the Extraordinary Contribution to Cinema Award, celebrating a profession spanning a long time and genres.

Accepting the ‘Finest Director’ award, Ghaywan mentioned the popularity meant an awesome deal to him and the complete ‘Homebound’ crew. “Movie criticism pushes us to study, replicate and do higher, so this award really means rather a lot to me and the complete ‘Homebound’ crew. ‘Homebound’ comes from the lives and lived experiences of individuals throughout our nation who are sometimes ignored and unseen. It’s a tribute to their spirit to maintain going within the face of dwindling hope,” Ghaywan mentioned.
