I’m really honoured: R Madhavan on receiving Padma Shri Award
New Delhi: R Madhavan is deeply honoured and grateful for receiving Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award in India.
The actor, identified for his acclaimed performances in movies equivalent to ‘Rang De Basanti’, ‘Vikram Vedha’, ‘3 Idiots’, ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ and others, was awarded the honour by President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday in Delhi.
Madhavan was awarded in recognition of his excellent and distinguished contributions to Indian cinema throughout a number of languages and genres. The actor shared an image from the ceremony on his ‘Instagram’ deal with, which featured him receiving the award and thanked his supporters and viewers.
“I’m deeply humbled and profoundly grateful and really honoured to be conferred with the Padma Shri. My heartfelt gratitude to the Authorities of India for bestowing upon me one among our nation’s highest civilian honours. I’m equally grateful to the Authorities of Maharashtra for recommending my identify and putting their religion in my journey. This recognition is one thing I’ll cherish for the remainder of my life,” he wrote within the caption.
He added, “To each one who watched my movies, embraced my characters, celebrated my successes, forgave my shortcomings and stood by me by way of the years – this honour belongs as a lot to you because it does to me. Your affection has been the driving drive behind each milestone in my life and profession. As we speak, I additionally really feel a deep sense of duty.”

Madhavan was accompanied by his spouse, Sarita Birje and their son, Vedaant Madhavan.
