Ratan Tata’s brother Noel Tata appointed chairman of Tata Trusts: Report

Noel Tata, chairman of Tata Trent and vice chairman of Tata Metal, has been appointed as the brand new chairman of Tata Trusts, succeeding his late half-brother, Ratan Tata, in accordance with CNBC-TV18. Ratan Tata, who led the philanthropic arm of the Tata conglomerate, handed away on the evening of October 9, 2024, at Mumbai’s Breach Sweet Hospital on the age of 86.

This appointment holds vital significance, as Tata Trusts owns 66% of Tata Sons, the principle holding firm for the Tata group, in accordance with Reuters.

Tata Trusts, established in 1892 by Jamsetji Tata, the founding father of the Tata group and the great-grandfather of each Noel and Ratan Tata, is targeted on areas corresponding to schooling, healthcare, and housing.

Noel Tata presently serves as a trustee on the boards of two different main trusts—the Sir Ratan Tata Belief and the Sir Dorabji Tata Belief.

Noel Tata has been part of the Tata Group for over 40 years.
