Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput‘s death case has been handed over to the CBI with the permission of the Central Government. CBI has also registered an FIR against Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her family. Now, Rhea’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde has issued a statement on the same.
Sushant’s father had lodged an FIR against Rhea Chakraborty in Bihar. After the case went to the CBI, the CBI has registered a fresh FIR against Rhea and her family members. Rhea’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde issued a notice on the same, terming it illegal. The statement read, “The Bihar Government transferred a case with which it had NO Jurisdiction to investigate, to CBI instead of The Mumbai Police, which is the legal position. The Hon’ble Supreme Court is seised of the issue pursuant to the Transfer Petition filed by Rhea Chakraborty. The SC has directed all parties to file their replies and Mumbai Police are directed to place the report of investigations.”
“Pending the said proceedings the CBI has registered and continued the illegality which was perpetrated at the hands of Bihar Police. CBI being a premier investigative agency in the country should desist from taking any further steps pending the SC proceedings. Apart from the same unless the Maharashtra Government consents to CBI investigating the case… it would be totally illegal and beyond any known legal principles, affecting the Federal Structure of the Nation.” The statement further read.
On the other hand, the Enforcement Directorate has summoned actress Rhea for questioning on August 7 in connection with a money laundering case stemming from an FIR filed by Sushant’s dad KK Singh. Sushant Singh Rajput passed away on June 14 at his Bandra residence.
