On Tuesday, the judicial custody of Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty got extended till October 20 by the Special NDPS Court. The brother-sister duo was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in the first week of September for their alleged link to the drug nexus.
Rhea along with Showik had earlier filed a bail plea in Magistrate’s court as well as Special NDPS Court, but both the courts rejected their bail plea. After their bail plea was rejected by both the courts, Rhea’s legal team had filed a bail plea in Bombay High Court on her behalf but in the latest court hearing, the court had reserved its orders.
However, on Tuesday, Rhea and Showik along with others were supposed to get free from their judicial custody, but the NDPS court extended their custody till October 20. After their custody got extended, Rhea’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde stated that Sushant’s family and its lawyers are interfering and tampering with the investigation in SSR’s death case.
He issued a statement and said, “It is disturbing to learn that the family of SSR and its lawyers are interfering and tampering with the investigations by bringing pressure on the AIIMS team of doctors by speaking to them during investigations and releasing purported audio recorded conversations and information to the media in order to bring pressure and tamper with potential witnesses. The SSR family lawyer is supposed to have said that he is going to meet the CBI Director to get the family’s predetermined path of investigations in SSR death.”

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead on June 14 in his apartment in Bandra, Mumbai. While some feel that he died by suicide, others feel that it was a foul play. Although, 3 federal agencies are probing the case to find out the truth.
