Renowned actor and director Mahesh Manjrekar has been threatened with a ransom of Rs 35 crore. It has been reported that the threat came from one of Abu Salem’s gang members. As a precautionary measure, Manjrekar has lodged a complaint at the Dadar police station.
An offense has been registered and transferred to the police’s Anti-Extortion Cell.
Manjrekar filed a complaint at Dadar police station two days back, alleging that an unidentified person, claiming to a member of the gang of the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts’ case convict Abu Salem, sent him messages on the mobile phone demanding Rs 35 crore.

Mahesh has made his mark in directing and acting in many movies like Astitva, Vastav, Dabangg, Wanted, Kakasparsh, etc. Manjrekar received a threatening call on Wednesday (August 26). The ransom seeker had demanded a ransom of Rs 35 crore. After this, Manjrekar immediately lodged a complaint at Dadar police station, the police also took immediate steps and arrested the ransom seeker.
It is learned that this ransom seeker is from Khed. The police will soon find out whether he has any connection with Abu Salem, and for what purpose he threatened Manjrekar.
