Legendary Playback Singer S.P. Balasubrahmanyam passed away on Friday in a private hospital at the age of 74. He was hospitalized in August at MGM Healthcare after he tested positive for novel coronavirus. As per reports, earlier he was doing well but his health took an unexpected turn and he was put on a ventilator and ECMO support.
On September 7, he tested negative for COVID-19 but still, he was on a ventilator and his condition got worsened up, he died on September 25 in Chennai.
He was popularly known as SPB and made his singing debut in 1966 with a Telugu movie. SPB was also a voice-over artist and had done it for actor Kamal Hassan when his Tamil movies used to dub in Telugu.
SPB has sung more than 40,000 songs in as many as 16 languages. Interestingly, he also acted in a few movies. He has won 6 National Awards and is survived by his wife, two children – both are playback singers.
SBP was known for his extremely friendly nature and always enjoyed his moments with interviewers, he even said once that he was fond of life and never wanted to die.
SBP is no more, but he will always be alive in his fans’ hearts and his songs will be played forever.
