Last week, Kshitij Prasad, a former employee of Dharma Productions, was arrested for his alleged involvement in the procurement and consumption of drugs by the Narcotics Control Bureau. As per Karan Johar‘s statement, Prasad had joined the sister company of Dharma Production in November 2019 for a project on a contract basis, but the project didn’t materialize.
However, after getting arrested by the NCB, when Kshitij was produced before the court via video conferencing, Kshitij had stated that the agency coerced him into falsely implicate Karan Johar and others into the case. Although, the court had sent him under the judicial custody of the NCB till October 3.
Now, Kshitij had filed a plea through his lawyer Satish Maneshinde, which stated that he has been repeatedly harassed and coerced into falsely implicating Dino Morea, Arjun Rampal, and Ranbir Kapoor in the present proceedings despite him repeatedly stating that he does not know the said persons and also have no knowledge of such allegations. According to the Indian Express report, Prasad stated the mentioned in his application and also said that he was retracting his statements, including the self-incriminatory ones.
He further added in his plea, “I say that I am being mentally, emotionally, and psychologically harassed and abused by the complainant (NCB) into making false statements.”
However, the agency had earlier described him as non-cooperative, adamant, and arrogant. Also, Sameer Wankhede, heading the NCB Mumbai unit, had denied the allegations earlier and said, “It is routine practice on the part of the accused to make such allegations.”
So far, the NCB had interrogated many celebrities from the Bollywood industry including Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor, and others.
