Delhi HC seeks Centre’s stand on Rakul Preet Singh’s plea to stop broadcast of programs connecting her with Rhea Chakraborty drug case.

Recently, there were reports which stated that Rhea Chakraborty has named many Bollywood A-listers during her interrogation by the Narcotics Control Bureau. The NCB officials also confirmed the same and said that Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh, and designer Simone Khambatta’s names have surfaced during the interrogation.

Reacting to it, actress Rakul Preet Singh filed a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking direction to be issued to the Ministry of Information & Broadcast to stop the media from running a campaign against her, as per the ANI report.

The actress said, “I got to know during a shoot that Rhea Chakraborty has named me and Sara Ali Khan for taking drugs, and the media started running a campaign against me.”

The hearing took place in front of single bench judge Justice Navin Chawla. The actress has asked the court to de-register the channel for the slandering without knowing that Rhea has retracted her statement, as per a media report.

Rakul Preet Singh argued that the media is showing her morphed pictures and pictures from film set to paint a narrative, to hound her, and link her to some sort of a drug gang. She said that the media is harassing her and coming to her house. Shre requested to issue an ad-interim direction to stop broadcasting of maligning and defamatory content against her.

The ANI reports suggest that the Delhi High Court directed Centre, Prasar Bharati, and News Broadcasters Association to consider Rakul Preet Singh’s plea as a representation and expeditiously decide it including any interim directions that ought to be issued.
