The #MeToo movement was started back in 2018 by actress Tanushree Dutta where she accused Nana Patekar of sexual harassment on movie sets. This movement led to hundreds of women to open up about their side of the stories when they were sexually abused or harassed. At the time of the movement, many people came under the radar of #MeToo.
Amongst many, filmmaker Sajid Khan was also one of them who was accused to sexually harass his former assistant director along with two other members of the fraternity and a journalist. After two years of the movement, a fresh case has been highlighted by Indian Model Paula who has accused Sajid of sexually harassing her.
Paula took it to her Instagram to open up about what happened with her when she was 17. She penned down the incident and shared it on social media. She wrote, “When #MeToo movement started, a lot of people spoke about Sajid Khan but I did not dare to because like every other actor who has no godfather and had to earn for a family I kept quiet. Now I don’t have my parents with me. I’m earning for myself. I can dare to tell that I have been harassed by Sajid Khan at the age of 17. He spoke dirty to me. He tried to touch me. He even told me to strip in front of him just to get a role in his upcoming House full movie(sic).”
She further added that she’s not sharing it on social media for any pity party rather she just realized that it had affected her so bad when she was a child and chose not to speak. “THESE B******S SHOULD BE BEHIND THE BARS NOT ONLY FOR CASTING COUCH BUT ALSO FOR MANIPULATING AND FOR STEALING AWAY YOUR DREAMS BUT I DID NOT STOP!!! BUT THE WRONG I DID WAS NOT TO SPEAK ABOUT IT!”
With the post, she wrote, “Before democracy dies and there is no freedom of speech anymore I thought I should speak !”
Netizens have stood up for model Paula and are trending #ArrestSajidKhan. Earlier, when Sajid was accused of sexually harassing multiple women, he was banned for a year by The Indian Film and Television Director’s Association.
