Virat Kohli’s ‘Royal Challengers Bangalore’ had a horrific match the other day, losing two batters under the first two overs. RCB was Knocked out for 109, whereas Captain Virat dropped two catches of KL Rahul, the KXIP captain. This wasn’t taken down well with the social media bullies and Sexists, who unabashedly trolled the cricketer and actor to no end.
It wasn’t just limited to fans. Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar, who was seated in the commentary box, criticised Kohli while passing a tasteless remark about Anushka Sharma which infuriated many on social media. Taking a dig at Kohli’s failure with the bat, Gavaskar said: “Inhone lockdown me toh bas Anushka ki gendon ki practice ki hai”.
Actress Anushka Sharma took it to her Instagram to give a befitting reply to Gavaskar saying,”I’m sure over the years you have respected the private lives of every cricketer while commentating on the game . Don’t you think you should have an equal amount of respect or me and us?”
The actress further added” It’s 2020 and things still don’t change for me. When will I stop getting dragged into cricket and stop being used to pass sweeping comments”.
Anushka Sharma had been a victim of this sexist trolling before too, where she has been called several names including “bad luck” and “unlucky” in the past as if her dating or marrying the cricketer had anything to do with his improving or declining cricketing skills.
