Popular Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who is currently busy promoting her upcoming flick ‘Chhapaak’, recently visited the Jawaharlal Nehru University to express her support to the students protesting against the violent attacks on the campus.
After Deepika’s visit to the JNU Campus on tuesday evening, many twitteratis supported her while some threatened to boycott her film.
Deepika was in Delhi for the promotion of ‘Chhapaak’ and during an interview, she opened up about the ongoing protests in the country, as well as the recent attacks on JNU campus.
Deepika said that she is pained to see the current situations and hopes this won’t become a new normal where people are saying anything and getting away with it. She further stated that this scares and is painful for her.
Deepika also said that this is not the foundation of our great country. She feels angry about the attacks and wants people to think that no action, in this case, is being taken.
On a related note, ‘Chhapaak’ is based on acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal and is slated to release on 10th January 2019
