In recent days, Many Bollywood films have gone the direct-to-digital way. Many upcoming films will directly release on OTT Platforms, However, It has now been confirmed, that Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan starter ‘Coolie No. 1’ will not release on OTT, and will go for theatrical release.
Not only this, According to a BollywoodHungama report, Makers of the film have also sold the distribution rights for a whopping Rs 50 Crores to Ekta Kapoor‘s ‘Balaji Productions’.
“It’s a fresh film with Varun, Sara and a huge ensemble with Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Javed Jaffery to name some. It has fetched approximately Rs 50 crore from Balaji for the distribution of the film in India. The deal was struck before the coronavirus pandemic and there lies a chance of renegotiating it, depending on the on-ground scenario closer to the film’s release,” BH quoted a source saying.
The source further revealed that Coolie No. 1 is Targeting a 1st January 2021 release, since new year is the best time for comedy to arrive.
On a related note, Coolie No.1 is David Dhawan’s third film with his son Varun Dhawan after ‘Main Tera Hero’ and ‘Judwaa 2’. It’s the official remake of Govinda and Karisma Kapoor’s film by the same name.
