Top Bollywood actresses to be Questioned by Police in Fake Followers Scam

Top actresses of the bollywood industry are likely to be questioned by Mumbai Police for the scam of fake/paid followers on social media. Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra Jonas are amongst the 8 high-profiles actors from the industry to be interrogated.

Mumbai police have started tracking profiles with a large number of followers on social media. Not only actors are on the radar, but also builders, sportspersons, and other high profiles.

A Special Investigation Team has been appointed to look into the matter efficiently, said a news report.

Mumbai police arrested a man identified as Abhishek Dinesh Daude for creating fake profiles on social media after which the scam surfaced. Mumbai Joint Commissioner of Police Vinay Kumar Chaubey was quoted saying, “We have investigated and found as many as 54 firms involved in this racket. SIT comprising Crime Branch along with Cyber Cell has been formed which will help in investigating this case.” A foreign social media marketing company www.followerskart.com where Daude claimed to work is now on police radar too.

Playback singer Bhoomi Trivedi filed a complaint against a fake profile claiming to be her, following which actor Koena Mitra too filed against a fake profile misusing her name on social media.

An officer said while initially, they identified 54 such websites, they now have a list of 68 portals providing these services.

Reports have it, Mumbai Police found that as many as 176 high-profile people, including some Bollywood celebrities and sportspersons, allegedly paid money to get followers.
